farmyard testimonials
My experience with Farmyard was beyond my expectations! I have always had an interest in vegetable gardening but didn’t know where to begin. Not only is the quality of work Farmyard performed excellent but the experience of working with Rebecca, Troy and crew was educational and fun. They did all the hard work for me from the preliminary planning, building the raised boxes, installing irrigation, filling the boxes with a wonderful organic special recipe of soil, to the finished product by helping me to plant my first crop. I have enjoyed the process every step of the way and have shared my wonderful experience with all I know. I could not have done this without them. I am now enjoying a bountiful crop thanks to Farmyard.

How is it to do business with Farmyard? Well in a word, its “refreshing”. They are a service company of people that actually do what they say they will; that show up when they say they will; that get the job done pretty much on schedule and call ahead if there will be a short delay; that stay with their original quote even when it takes them longer than they thought it would; that cheerfully do the extras that we clients always decide we want and then charge fairly for them; and that follow up – come by every now and then to check the installation to be sure its functioning per plan. The Kidwell girls and Troy are knowledgeable, talented, honest, and have a demonstrated passion for doing the job right and seeing to it that people get to enjoy wholesome natural foods with the least possible aggravation. I wholeheartedly recommend them without reservation.

I first discovered farmyard while researching material for my Phoenix Farmers’ Market column on Examiner.com. I was so impressed with their web site and so captivated by their creativity that I just had to call and interview Rebecca for my column. And then I wanted my own farmyard. So in October Troy, “head farmer”, and Rebecca and their crew installed a beautiful raised bed in my backyard, painted to match the trim on my house. They imported the soil, installed the drip system and timer and intensively planted the bed with the best seeds and seedlings. We had a little rain delay, but rather than hold up the process, they built the bed at their house and trucked it over the next day. I didn’t have to do a thing. It has been such a pleasure watching my garden grow, and the produce has been just amazing. Rebecca, Sarah and Troy are about as dedicated to the concept of locally grown as you can get. They were the movers and shakers behind the recent Arcadia Edible Garden tour and their own home reflects their passion and hard work. I have found them to be exceptionally hard working, above board and responsive. If you want the fun and pleasure of growing your own food without a lot of manual labor on your part, I highly recommend farmyard.

Farmyard took my failing garden and turned it into the centerpiece of my backyard. Now I have an abundance of healthy and delicious vegetables, as well as a beautiful focal point of various hues and textures. Rebecca and Sarah were a pleasure to work with, and attentive to every email and every phone call. I look forward many more years of wisdom and advice from a company that has demonstrated that my garden can succeed.

It is my pleasure to recommend Farmyard for design, installation and maintenance of residential organic gardens! Farmyard turned our backyard into a beautiful source of healthy food and enjoyment. In addition to the organic garden, they also designed and installed landscape plants and materials (rock), creating harmony between the functionality of the garden and the aesthetics of the backyard for our family’s enjoyment. Farmyard’s designers provided the vision for how the garden could fit in with our backyard’s layout and existing landscape, hardscape and plumbing. We engaged Farmyard to install an in-ground garden and landscaping plants, trees and rock with irrigation systems tying into our existing plumbing. They removed the existing dirt in the garden area and imported/installed organic soil and material. The Farmyard staff was very professional in every step of the installation process, leaving the backyard tidy after each work day. When planting day arrived, my Husband and I were eager to get our hands dirty and learn about backyard “farming.” Rebecca, Troy & Sarah guided us step-by-step in the planting and seeding process: everything from how deep seeds for different plants need to be, how deep to dig the hole for transplanting, to regular maintenance of the garden. I’m happy to say that the little time I am able to spend in the garden every week has paid off, we are enjoying delicious veggies from our garden every day. It has also been a fun learning experience for the entire family, my four year old son loves spending time outside with me in the garden to see what is new and he even likes broccoli now! We get many compliments on how beautiful our backyard looks when friends and family visit, and they are surprised at how little time we have to spend on maintenance. What I like best about Farmyard is that their “job” was not over when they finished installing the garden. Rebecca and Sarah periodically check in with me to see how everything is growing and are always available to answer my questions offer advice and their monthly newsletter provides useful tips and recipes. I’m looking forward to seeing them again soon to plant a new Spring crop!
